Wedding Themes for 2020

We at Forever Yours, Flowers have spent a lot of time talking about Rustic wedding decor in the last few weeks. Rustic weddings, or variations on the rustic wedding theme have been hugely popular recently. But we thought we should have a look at what else is being done in wedding themes.

Soft lighting, lighter, more gentle colours and plenty of beautiful flowers

1. Soft Florals

Soft lighting, lighter, more gentle colours and plenty of beautiful flowers.

The bridesmaids will often be in softer hues like soft pinks, lavenders or nudes. With the groomsmen rocking a smart casual suit alternative.

With beautiful flowers as your centrepiece all you need is a splash of fairy lights and someone to marry!

2. Casual Backyard

We've been talking a bit about the logistics and great things about backyard weddings because they are becoming more and more popular. And they really are a great option. They cost less, they're intimate, family friendly affairs and they are so incredibly yours!

Many couples are choosing to spend the money that would have gone into an elaborate wedding into their home instead. If you've already bought you can spend the reception venue money on landscaping. If you're yet to buy your home together you can use a friend or relative's beautiful backyard and save yourself a packet for that house deposit!

3. Traditional

Variations on bridal white flowers, crystal stemware and tapered candles is a classic wedding theme for a reason. This timeless design grabs attention but still allows for you to be centre of attention (having said, whatever your wedding theme, it's you people are there to see!).

A wedding is the one time where variations on white, can be put together with striking impact. And as anyone who's been wedding dress shopping will tell you, there are many variations on white!

The Great Gatsby is a great source for Art Deco themed oppulence!

5. Vintage Elegance

There is often a bit of cross over between a vintage and an art deco themed wedding.

But if you're not going for bold geometries and over the top polished gold a vintage wedding would involve lots of lace and delicate flowers.

See if you can source some gorgeous embroidered or crochet table cloths from thrift stores.

4. Art Deco

Bring some 1930s glam to your day with some art deco styling. Bold colours, geometric shapes and decadent details all go together to create this glamorous theme.

Think gold, luxe fabrics and plenty of elegant exuberance.

5. Garden

Garden weddings are absolutely beautiful! And like a backyard wedding, you have plenty of scope to make it your own. A garden wedding is very weather dependent however, so make sure that you have a good wet weather back up plan.

6. Modern wedding

A modern wedding has a lot in common with Art Deco. Dynamic lighting, bold colours and often elaborate flowers. There is often highly polished gold or brass and geometric shapes.

Beautiful public spaces are also a common choice with a modern wedding. Art galleries, sculpture gardens or library mezzanines being some beautiful examples.

Many modern weddings employ the use of lighting rigs to perfectly curate their dream day.

Flowers are often elaborate but unique with a modern wedding

Whatever the wedding theme in 2020, most couples will probably still have a touch of rustic as it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. A modern wedding may have share platters instead of a three course meal, a vintage wedding lends itself to rustic bohemian... you get the idea. But really your wedding should be all about what you and your partner like, even if there's no consistent wedding theme. It's your day, have fun with it. And of course, happy wedding planning!
