Leather Roses
We were recently asked to design and create a bouquet that featured purple leather roses. Something that Beryl (our chief designer and textile artist extraordinaire jumped at!
Beryl has been creating her beautiful leather roses from the beginning of Forever Yours, Flowers (as you can see above!). But with this new commission she decided to make a few changes. After all, the creative process is never done!
The Jenna rose (pictured right) was named after the beautiful bride who commissioned it.
The roses in our studio come in different varieties and colours. Just like roses in nature!
You can see a natural informal edge to the Jenna rose. This is a new take on our more rounded formal rose petals.
To get the beautiful colour of these roses was quite a process!
It can take anywhere from 1 day to a week to get just the right colour for our leather roses. The raw leather is painted 3 to 5 times during this process.
To get the particular "Jenna" purple we used two shades of purple, a white and a green (yes... green!).
Each of our petals is cut from this hand painted leather. Just like nature, we work to make sure each petal is unique. We make sure not to use one solid colour, but rather shades of that colour. You can see these gradients of colour pictured left and right!
So there you go! A new type of leather rose! Ready to walk down the aisle.
