It's nearly Christmas and You are getting Married
A December wedding? Christmas it up!
A December wedding is the perfect excuse to jingle those bells and deck the halls! Following on from our Christmas Themed Wedding post we thought we'd continue along the idea of a Christmassy wedding. Just a few thoughts on how to Christmas up your December wedding.
*This is for those of you who love Christmas - Grinch's time to tune out!
Go crazy with the fairy lights
And we mean crazy! Now is not the time to be conservative. And really, what kind of Grinch doesn't like fairy lights?!
Incorporate some Christmas in your Colours
You don't need to completely deck your wedding halls with Fa la la, but a pop of Christmas colour here and there can a have striking impact. Glittery silver or gold fairy lights (as discussed, always a winner), some beautiful red in your flowers and you've already added a bit of Christmas to your special day.
We're not suggesting you flout Christmas wreaths or carry poinsettias down the aisle (although, no judgement here!). Just a red rose here and there.
Reception Decor
Adding a Christmas theme doesn't have to mean Christmas trees everywhere you look (although again, no judgement here!). Adding a few sprays of holly, or a tangle of ivy with some artfully placed berries, candles or baubles adds all the Christmas you need!
Or adding a rustic and understated feel with some pine cones and wooden stars. A touch of Christmas can be as understated or underlined as you like!
A token nod
Or maybe you want to just give a small nod to the festive season? Something like adding a touch of red or green here and there can be subtle but striking. Think about a peek of red, gold or green at the foot of your stunning white dress, a statement but not an overwhelming one.
A simple favour
Why not something Christmassy for your wedding favours? Tis the season after all!
Cute, Christmassy packages or yummy Christmas cookies are a great way to say thank you to your guests with a festive touch.
Seasonal Refreshments
While no one will thank you for serving a traditional mulled wine at an Aussie Summer wedding, not all seasonal drinks and nibbles are counted out. Combining a cool drink, some fruity flavours and alcohol at most Aussie weddings will be a success.
Have a bit of a play, there are some amazing Christmas cocktail recipes out there. Combine any of those with Summery canapes and you're all sorted!
When it starts to get late?
Wrapping up the night with some hot cocoa and gingerbread is a cute and cosy way to finish things off. By this stage of the night, most of your guests are going to welcome something warm and tasty to drink.
And who says no to Christmas cookies?!
However you choose to celebrate we're sure it will be wonderful. We wish you a very Merry Wedding, and a Happy New Life together!
